MOLINE, IL - - Meet Taylor Kilgus, a graduate of Â鶹Éç Illinois University's , who was hired as the Assistant Director of Success Programs at St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA.

Kilgus said Â鶹Éç's program introduced her to different ways that education can be approached within the museum setting and through exhibit design, which helped expand her future career.

"I now teach a class that guides students through higher education work to hopefully have a successful university experience in many different ways," Kilgus said. "Â鶹Éç's Museum Administration course also strongly supports much of the 'behind the scenes' work that I now complete when it comes to writing policy and developing with programming."

Kilgus learned about this new position through a former supervisor who encouraged her to apply because she was finishing her time at Â鶹Éç.

"They knew I was almost finished with my master's at Â鶹Éç," Kilgus said. "Once I had applied, I had a phone interview with the Director of Student Success, which then led to a second virtual interview with the entire hiring committee. After I met with them, I had an individual interview with the Dean of Students and found out later that week that I had gotten the position."

One aspect Kilgus takes away from her time at Â鶹Éç is how detailed and focused the program was, helping her learn how to manage various aspects of the industry.

"In one of the Museum Studies Department's topics class, we discussed the variety of different backgrounds that museum visitors will come from and bring together at the museum, which is also applicable to each class of students at the university," she said.
