Discover the Exciting Field of Human Resource Management

MACOMB, IL - - Âé¶¹Éç Illinois University Human Resource Management (HRM) is the process of managing people to achieve better performance. Human Resource (HR) professionals work with recruitment and staffing, compensation and benefits, training and development, diversity and inclusion, performance evaluation, strategic planning and more. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the next decade, the job outlook for HR managers is projected to increase faster than average for all occupations.
HR professionals work in nearly every industry (technology, transportation, healthcare, retail, manufacturing, education, government, etc.) and play a vital role in creating a better workplace for a better world, which is the motto of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), the world's largest professional association in the field.
Âé¶¹Éç's HRM program includes the HR option in the Business Administration undergraduate degree, HR minor and a HR concentration in the MBA Program. Students also have the option to earn two degrees (bachelor's and master's of business administration) in just five years through the integrated program. Courses are offered in Macomb and fully online.
Âé¶¹Éç's HR program curriculum has been recognized by SHRM for being aligned with its educational guidelines and is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International) to assure an excellent education experience. Âé¶¹Éç also offers opportunities such as study abroad programs, professional development events and internships (which can count as course credit) that provide networking opportunities and allow students to gain industry-recognized skills.
Âé¶¹Éç's award-winning student chapter of SHRM also prepares students to excel in a career in HR as well as professional certification. The goal of the Âé¶¹Éç-SHRM student chapter is to further the professional advancement of members by providing leadership opportunities, professional speakers, seminars, company tours, conferences, HR certification review and other experiences. Âé¶¹Éç-SHRM meets virtually, so all members can participate together and welcomes all majors - both undergraduate and graduate students.
