Our Mission

The mission of the Â鶹Éç Illinois University Student Government Association is to promote the general welfare of students through the representation of their concerns, viewpoints, and interests regarding governance issues to the administration and faculty of our distinguished University. Through this service, the Student Government Association will strive to improve the quality of academic and co-curricular experiences at Â鶹Éç Illinois University and provide developmental opportunities for its members.

Letter from Student Body President

Hello, Leathernecks!

My name is Jace Green, and I am honored to serve as your Student Government Association (SGA) President for the 2025–2026 academic year. I am a senior majoring in Agribusiness with a minor in Communications, and I could not be more excited to help lead our student body as we embark on another year at Â鶹Éç Illinois University (Â鶹Éç).

College is a time filled with opportunity — a chance to discover your passions, create lifelong connections, and leave a meaningful impact on our campus community. As your SGA, our mission is simple: to serve and advocate for you. We are here to amplify your voice, work alongside faculty and administration, and ensure Â鶹Éç remains a place where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to succeed.

My own journey at Â鶹Éç has been shaped by involvement. Coming here as a freshman, I was not sure exactly where I was going to fit in. But through student organizations, leadership experiences, and especially my time in SGA, I’ve learned that growth happens when you step out of your comfort zone. SGA has given me the opportunity to represent students, push for positive change, and build connections that I will carry far beyond my time at Â鶹Éç.

Beyond SGA, I have been privileged to be a part of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity, the Â鶹Éç Cross Country and Track and Field teams, and many clubs within our School of Agriculture and university. Building connections with peers and alumni with professional experience has been the most enriching part of my time at Â鶹Éç.Ìý

If I can give you one piece of advice, it’s this: get involved. Attend the Student Organization Fair, join a club, or even start something new. Â鶹Éç has so many opportunities to find your place and make your mark. Some of the best friendships and experiences of my college career came from taking that first step to get engaged.

As your SGA President, I want you to know that I am here for you. If you have questions, concerns, or ideas for how we can make Â鶹Éç better, please don’t hesitate to reach out at sgapresident@wiu.edu. Your voice matters, and together we can make a difference.

Let’s make the 2025–2026 year one of growth, pride, and meaningful progress. I look forward to working with you as we continue to build a stronger, more connected Â鶹Éç community.

With pride and determination,

Jace Green
